The National Museum of Asian Art’s physical and virtual global presence opens up learning about Asian arts, cultures and societies on an unprecedented scale. Now entering our second century, we pride ourselves on accessibility—a true 21st-century museum that is easily understood by the general public, welcoming and inclusive. We reflect this in our branding, physical and digital spaces, programming formats, themes and content.

Through new technologies, we animate in-gallery experiences and virtually capture the imagination of audiences around the world. Through our heightened international profile, we build substantive global partnerships that broaden our expertise and our impact. Through our leadership in scholarship and conservation, we are meticulous in provenance research and object history while we embrace pathways for ethical return. Through partnership with the communities we serve, we are transparent about our own history as a museum and tell an integrated and polyvocal history of Asian-American contact, appropriation and exchange.

During the campaign, our goal is to share the strengths and quality of our collections while removing any obstacles or barriers for visitors to experience art, and to create a welcoming community by concentrating on visitor experience and reimagining our galleries. We will build on our advances in virtual programming, digital engagement and innovative exhibitions. We will democratize access to our resources and build pathways for many more people to engage with the National Museum of Asian Art and become a global center for learning.
